What the world needs now is leadership
Written on Sept 10, 2005 by Darryl M. Gumm

Every single facet of our being, as a world-wide community, is in dire need of leadership ó from families to corporations, from the local PTA to churches, from local to state, federal and world government. The events of the past four years, especially the last few weeks speak volumes about how desperately the world needs people with the courage and ability to lead.

Leadership is not partisanship.

Leaders admit their mistakes, learn from their mistakes and move on.

Leaders care more about those whom they are leading than about themselves.

Leaders are color blind and provide leadership to everyone, regardless of the color of their skin, their religion, sexual orientation, net worth or social class.

Leaders inspire ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Leaders set an example through the way they live.

Leaders are problem solvers.

The words canít, wonít and couldnít are not in a leaderís vocabulary.

A true leader will never pass the buck.

A leader values all of life and will put his or her life on the line to save another.

True leaders unite people and never divide people.

Effective leaders are empathetic.

Leaders are visionaries.

What the world needs now, more than anything, is leadership. If you possess the traits listed herein, then role up your sleeves and begin to lead. If you know someone who fits the description in this essay, encourage them to lead.
